Scholarship for Kids has been a tremendous blessing to both me and my family. Through this scholarship, my three siblings and I were given the opportunity to attend a private school that aligns closely with our beliefs, values, and faith. I have been a recipient of the Scholarship for Kids scholarship since the first grade, and now, as a graduating senior at Northside Methodist Academy, I can honestly say that this opportunity has shaped my life in countless ways.

Attending a private Christian school has allowed me to grow academically, spiritually, and personally. Throughout the years, I have been surrounded by dedicated teachers and mentors who have encouraged me, prayed for me, and pushed me to become the best version of myself. Their guidance has strengthened my faith, built my confidence, and taught me the importance of compassion, hard work, and perseverance. Because of their influence, I have developed a strong desire to help others and make a positive difference in people’s lives.

As I prepare for graduation, I plan to attend Wallace Community College to pursue an associate degree in nursing. Nursing is a career that genuinely excites me because it combines my passion for helping others with my desire to serve people during some of the most important moments of their lives. I have always admired the compassion, patience, and dedication that nurses show to their patients and families. Whether they are offering comfort, support, or medical care, nurses make an impact that goes far beyond medicine. I hope to develop those same qualities throughout my own career.

After completing my degree at Wallace, I hope to begin working in a hospital where I can gain valuable hands-on experience while continuing my education online through Troy University to earn my Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN). Continuing my education is very important to me because I want to expand my knowledge, strengthen my skills, and create more opportunities for growth within the medical field. Healthcare is constantly changing, and I believe learning should never stop, especially in a profession dedicated to caring for others and improving their quality of life.

I understand that pursuing a nursing degree will require discipline, sacrifice, and determination, but I am fully prepared to work hard to achieve my goals. I know there will be challenges along the way, but I also know that every challenge will help me grow stronger and become a better caregiver in the future.

Although I have not completely decided which specialty I would like to pursue long-term, I am excited about the many opportunities that nursing offers. One possibility I have considered is earning a doctorate in nursing so that I can not only care for patients but also teach and mentor future nursing students. I would love the opportunity to encourage others the same way my teachers and mentors encouraged me throughout my education. I have also considered becoming a travel nurse because it would allow me to care for patients in different communities while gaining new experiences and broadening my understanding of healthcare. Another path that interests me is becoming a Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist (CRNA), a role that requires advanced education, responsibility, and skill.

Even though I am still exploring which specialty is the best fit for me, I am confident that nursing is where I am meant to be. No matter where my career leads, my goal will always remain the same: to help others, serve my community with compassion, and use the opportunities I have been given to make a meaningful difference in people’s lives.

If I could go back and give advice to my ninth-grade self, I would tell her to stay focused and never let fear, drama, or the opinions of others distract her from her goals. I would remind her that everything will work out the way it is supposed to and that she is capable of achieving far more than she realizes. I would tell her not to waste time worrying about fitting in or seeking approval from others because the people who truly care about her will support and encourage her no matter what.

Most importantly, I would remind her that she is never alone. She has a loving family, supportive friends, dedicated teachers, and mentors cheering her on every step of the way. Above all, she has God beside her through every challenge, every success, and every moment of uncertainty. Looking back now, I am incredibly proud of the person I have become and grateful for every opportunity that has helped shape my journey. Scholarship for Kids has played a major role in that journey, and I will always be thankful for the doors it has opened for me and my family.
